Why Millennials Choose Rhode Island

Millennials are choosing to settle in the smallest state, with the largest potential. With the economy making a positive turnaround in the United States, we see strong efforts from politicians and residents of Rhode Island to be at the forefront of this change. Rhode Island has much to offer besides this. Rhode Island is a superb place for millennials to settle down because of the great colleges, the statewide focus on economic growth and an awesome quality of life.

Rhode Island is home to some of the most prestigious colleges in the country. Providence alone holds Rhode Island School of Design, Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College and Rhode Island College. Students come from all over the country to attend these schools. While here, many of them gain internships at local businesses, and enjoy their time living and working here. This results in many of them deciding to start their lives here after graduation.

This community of educated millennials provides opportunities for them to network together to build strong businesses, partnerships and career opportunities.

Local government and residents of Rhode Island are focusing on economic growth. In the last few years the number of service-based businesses has improved, causing employment and output to grow. Rhode Island offers many incentives, credits and grants that can aid businesses financially during startup or when relocating.

With Gov. Gina M. Raimondo in office, 8,000 new jobs were created in Rhode Island during 2015. One of the main goals of the current administration is growing businesses and attracting high-wage, high-skill jobs. With this support, and the optimism of the hard-working millennials in Rhode Island, the economy is set to grow for years to come.

And Rhode Island is called the “Ocean State” for a reason. With 400 miles of coastline, rolling hills, natural lakes and rivers, there are so many breathtaking sights to see. Due to the broad cultural diversity in the area, the restaurant scene is top-notch. Providence is clean and safe, and has waterfront views from a good portion of it. City life and suburban life are so close that it’s simple to live or work in either, and enjoy the best of both worlds.

Rhode Island is a great place to be a young professional, grow your career, and have a family. The size of a state has no meaning, it’s about potential; and Rhode Island has a lot of it! •
